To paint with oils

While living in Baltimore during the late 1960s, I often visited the Aquarian Age bookstore, as well as the local library, where I found much of the reading material that inspired some of my artwork.

New Age Science was in vogue back then, and I indulged in all of those books that I could find.

Books, such as The Oxford Book of English Mystical Verse, and The Prophet, helped replenish my spirit through those difficult years.

This portrait, completed in 1974, was derived from a drawing  based on a vision/dream of an acquaintance.

In 1971, I decided to enroll in a course for Decorative Arts and Crafts, through correspondence with Lifetime Career Schools located in Los Angeles.

The lessons in this study enabled me to become more proficient with the use of brushes and colors. In addition, they displayed examples of techniques I could utilize in other paintings.
